Dancing on the Clouds for Your First Dance

How long the cloud lasts

Usually two and a half to three and a half minutes, which covers most first dance songs. Sometimes longer.

The room decides. A warm room shortens it. A breeze across the floor, from a propped-open door or air conditioning, breaks the cloud up faster. We would rather tell you that now than have you wondering on the night why it thinned out early.

It is not smoke

The most common worry is fire alarms, so it is worth being plain about this. Dancing on the Clouds is not a smoke machine. The cloud is water vapour and it stays at floor level, so in our experience it does not trouble smoke detectors.

We still tell your venue what we are bringing. They would rather know, and it takes one email.

In photographs and on video

The cloud is the reason photographers ask for it. It puts a clean white base underneath you and separates you from the floor, which is difficult to achieve any other way in a dark room.

It works on video as well as stills. The mist moves as you move, so a first dance filmed through it reads as movement rather than as two people in a dark room.

Any floor, any room

The effect works on whatever floor you have. A hired dance floor, the venue’s own boards, carpet, stone. The cloud behaves much the same on all of them, so there is nothing you need to change about the room to have it.

We bring everything, run it, and clear it away afterwards. It is odourless and leaves no residue on the floor.

Colour

The cloud takes colour well. We can light it with uplighters to match whatever scheme the room is running, which turns a white cloud into the same tone as the rest of your lighting. Warmer colours photograph particularly well.

Booking Dancing on the Clouds

Most people add it to a DJ or dance floor booking, and it arrives with the same team on the same van.

You can book it on its own. Standalone hire is the only case where a minimum order value applies, and we confirm that when we quote.
