Tony W, Wedding DJ and MC

Tony has played over 2,500 weddings across 14 countries, in over 40 years of DJing. He is also a trained MC and host, which is a useful combination on a day that needs someone to hold it together as well as fill a floor.

Before the day

Most of the work happens in the weeks beforehand. Tony agrees the music with the couple in advance and works out the shape of the evening, so very little on the night is guesswork and the couple has one fewer thing to think about.

The whole day, if you want it

Tony hosts as well as DJs, and he can take the whole day rather than the evening. That means welcoming guests, introducing the speeches, keeping the timings honest, and telling the couple’s story to the room if they would like it told. Years in radio before this are where the microphone side comes from.

On the night

Reading the room is the half of the job that cannot be planned. Two and a half thousand weddings is a lot of rooms, and it shows in when he leaves a set alone and when he changes course. He is calm about it, which is what lets everyone else stop watching the clock.

Awards and writing

Tony has won Best National Wedding DJ at The Wedding Industry Awards, and Best Wedding DJ in London and the South East, and has also won at the Confetti Awards, Guides for Brides and Hitched. He writes regularly for Pro Mobile on service delivery and on health and wellbeing in the industry, and he is a member of the National Association of DJs.

Where he has played

Alongside the weddings, Tony has held club residencies in London, Japan, Hong Kong, Switzerland, South Korea, Finland, Norway, Singapore, Holland and Indonesia.
