Carlton House Terrace
Luxury Wedding Venue in London

10-11 Carlton House Terrace is a pair of Grade I listed Georgian townhouses on the Mall, now home to the British Academy, with St James’s Park on one side and Waterloo Place on the other. It is about as central as a London wedding gets, and it does not feel like a hotel or a function room.
The two houses work separately or together. No. 10 takes up to 60 through the day, No. 11 up to 100, and the seated wedding breakfast runs to 90. Ceremonies are licensed from 2 up to 120. Catering is Searcys, in house. A full wedding hire runs from two in the afternoon until midnight, which is the single most useful number on this page if you are building a running order.
The staircases are what everyone photographs, and there is a garden outside for the drinks reception when the weather allows.
We work in No. 11, the larger of the two houses. The rooms in it are beautifully proportioned, which is what a good Georgian house gives you, and it means the space feels right whether there are forty people in it or a hundred. Uplighting looks fantastic in there, and a Georgian room is exactly the sort of space that rewards it: the light finds the cornicing and the window reveals rather than flattening everything the way a downlight does. It is the first thing we would suggest if you want the room to look different after dinner than it did during it.
Most of our work here has been the full day rather than just the evening. That means sound for the ceremony, through the drinks and the wedding breakfast, into the speeches, and on to the DJ for the rest of the night, all on one setup and one team.
Live musicians pair well with the building, and we have supplied plenty of them here. String quartets, harpists, pianists, saxophonists and singers for the earlier part of the day, then bands, choirs or roaming acts in the evening if you want them. Our DJ Live setup puts musicians over the DJ set if you would rather have both at once.
If you want to be specific about what gets played, our playlist builder is the easiest way to do it.
Because the hire ends at midnight rather than one or two in the morning, the evening is shorter than at a country house and the running order has to be tighter. Speeches that overrun cost you dancing time here in a way they do not elsewhere. We plan around it, and we would rather tell you that at the quoting stage than on the night.
We DJ across central London the whole year round, at private venues, livery halls and hotels. There is more on our London wedding DJ page.
Tell us your date and what you have in mind, and we will come back with what it would cost. If you are still working out how much of the day you want covered, say so and we will price it both ways.
