Monkey Island
Luxury Wedding Venue in Berkshire

Monkey Island Estate sits in the Thames at Bray, on an island you reach on foot and can walk around in a few minutes. The two pavilions on it are Grade I listed and were built in 1723 as a fishing retreat for the third Duke of Marlborough, though the estate traces its story back some eight hundred years. Seven acres of gardens, forty guest rooms, the Wedgwood Suite, and a floating spa on the river. Once the last day visitor has gone back over the bridge, the island is yours.
Weddings here run in the Pavilion, which takes up to 130, or in a marquee on the lawns for up to 300. The Marlborough Ballroom, the Spencer Suite and the River Room, which has its own bar and a patio over the water, cover the smaller parts of the day.
The evening party happens in the Pavilion. We bring everything for it: PA, DJ rig, lighting. We also lay dance floors, and a floor looks the part in that room. Uplighting is available too, and we quote for both alongside the DJ rather than bundling them in.
This is the part nobody mentions when you book. There is no vehicle access to the Pavilion. Everything a supplier brings comes off the van at the bank and goes over the footbridge by hand, in stages, and that takes as long as it takes.
It matters to you for one reason: it lands in your timeline. If your room has to change over between the wedding breakfast and the dancing, the schedule needs to allow for a crew carrying a rig across a bridge rather than wheeling it through a door. We build that in and set up around it. It is a good question to ask any supplier quoting you for this venue, because the ones who have not worked here tend not to have thought about it.
Our DJs play what you actually want to hear, and you can put the night together yourself with our playlist builder if you would rather be specific. For the earlier part of the day we can supply live musicians, from string quartets and harpists to saxophonists and singers, and for the evening there are bands, choirs and roaming acts. If you want the two together, our DJ Live setup puts musicians over the DJ set.
Monkey Island is a few minutes from Maidenhead and Windsor, and we work across the county the whole year round. There is more on how we cover the area on our Berkshire wedding DJ page.
Tell us your date and roughly what you have in mind for the evening, and we will come back with what it would cost. If you are still choosing between rooms, say so and we will tell you how each one behaves once the dancing starts.
